Karma has struck it's wrath. I was experimenting with making victory rolls in my hair & the stupid hair brush got stuck. I was frantically running around the flat freaking out. It was one of those round ones, not the best invention.

Since the victory hair rolls require twisting the hair in a round ringlet, I thought the brush would work. I'm missing a chunk of hair now which isn't so obvious but it took me five months to grow half it's length back. This is so upsetting. :(

His gestures and voice are compelling, and have a sensitivity that helps us empathize with his condition. Natalie Portman, serves as a perfect foil for Beslon. Like Run Lola Run, the film is a kinetic riff on the theme of destiny, and misunderstandings in love. The best part is a glorious cadenza of accelerated images, as the student recalls the relationship he has had with his girl friend. In less than three minutes of screen time, novelty becomes routine, ecstasy becomes boredom, rifts and solitude appear inevitable – until the final twist, which turns the joke on the audience. Once again – and with obvious pleasure – Tykwer has created a couple who race in tune with life, challenging their karma at every turn.

    <lj:music>Editors-Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors</lj:music>

These past two weeks have been the most emotionally exhausting of the year. My Mother had informed me that my Grandma's condition had gone from active, semi-healthy to the most extreme, she was diagnosed with cancer, terminal. It was the worst news ever to hear, that she had no possible chance of recovering, even chemotherapy couldn't help her. The doctors were so stolid, callous & so grim. I was about to lose the most important individual of my existence, my only Grandmother. I had grew so close to her over the course of my life. She was so supportive to my family even when others turned their backs. I couldn't fathom the reality of losing her. She was there for every important event in my life. I spent the last month with her at her house before her final journey into the hospital. She refused to believe her prognosis was as serious as we all believed.

I spent this past Thursday night in the hospital for six & half hours, after receiving a frantic call from my Uncle. He said her blood pressure was dropping & that I should leave work immediately. I left work feeling really worried, I expected much worse to come. I saw her lying in the hospital bed, she didn't look like herself anymore but a frail, older woman, in a deep sleep, not opening her eyes or speaking, like as if in a coma. It was so gut wrenching to see her like this, what she had been reduced to in such a short span of time. She held on throughout the night, as our family waited in the ICU waiting room. I proceeded to head home halfway into the early morning hours. I awoke this past Friday morning to the sound of my Grandfather calling my name as he stood next to me whilst I slept on the couch. He told me that she had passed that morning, at 11am, which was twenty minutes later. She had renal failure & her heart had flat lined.
It's been really rough for my family these past two days, the reality of her being gone from my life has ripped me up so much inside. I just miss her so much right now & it's impossible to imagine the future without her. Je vous aime la si beaucoup de Grandmère, à jamais & toujours.....

    <lj:music>American Catastrophe-The Farm</lj:music>

Beau soir mes amis! Officially tomorrow is a tremendous milestone in my life. It is officially my 30th birthday! My twenties have bid adieu forever & now I am now entering a world unknown to me, where others have gone in my age group. It doesn't feel like a huge ordeal but I was a bit hesitant to grasp this concept a few months prior. Wow, I'm another year older, & people still think I am 22. lol

I celebrated my birthday yesterday with dinner at a very swanky, lovely restaurant called Vivace in downtown KC. Such wonderful entrees, flatbreads, cosmopolitan martinis, desserts, & more. I had a very delicious Steak Vivace entree with a nice potato gratin in the shape of a square. The martinis were so tasty, I couldn't resist the ice bar either. The tiramisu was so good, along with the luscious cheesecake. Such a fabulous birthday! And there was live jazz as well, very cool.

After dinner, we departed for the Brick to see a very talented local band called American Catastrophe. I've known the singer & guitarist from a another popular band, they're also notorious locals amongst our little metropolis. Such a cool gig, they rocked the Brick! They also won a new fan amongst the throngs of people unaware of this band.

The biography:

Exploring the Americana, the rural grit, the murderer, and the romantic, American Catastrophe is the product of 15 years of musical exploration. Stemming from former bands such as The Black Water, Sky Burial, and Sister Mary Rotten Crotch; American Catastrophe draws upon their diverse experiences in experimental jazz, old school punk, expansive guitar epics and operatically trained baritone vocals to fashion a powerful brand of American Gothic with an original take on the murder ballad tradition.

American Catastrophe's debut Excerpts from the Broken Bone Choir is the inaugural release on the roster of Oxblood Records, a label co-owned by music industry veterans Robert Moore, formerly of I.R.S. Records and Music Director at KCUR-FM in Kansas City and Megan Hamilton, former drummer for indie success Frogpond.
Outside of American Catastrophe, Shaun H. is co-founder and Creative Director of the MK12 design collective, where for 8 years has directed and animated music videos for the likes of Hot Hot Heat, Guided By Voices, The Faint, and Common, among others. His design expertise and artistic vision are also applied to the distinct look and imagery of American Catastrophe. Fans and the unfamiliar alike covet the band's poster art, unique album packaging and merchandise. The beautifully haunting visuals, cavernous vocals and torrential orchestration of American Catastrophe have inspired a strong regional following. American Catastrophe is more than a band, it is an icon.

I've been in constant auto-pilot these last two months.
Although, I've shared this with many of my real life friends not many of you know that I was actually involved in a hit & run pedestrian accident last November. It was an ordinary night but it had been raining throughout the whole day. I had just finished working for the day & decided on a whim to go downtown to purchase my Art Brut+We Are Scientists ticket. I was rather thrilled about this show, I've never seen Art Brut live & of course Eddie Argos, beloved vocalist was going to be there.

I managed to exit the bus stop & frantically crossed the major intersection walking back to my flat which was three blocks away. I cautiously near I had the right of way to safely cross the intersection. Suddenly the driver of this car turning left drove directly into my path. I didn't have time to react, the car had hit my left leg & sent me flying to curb. I had managed to catch half a license plate when the driver sped off & never bothered to stop. I was left by the curb, in shock & upset. I knew I had to get home & file a police report of my accident, so I made the trek back, slowly dragging my injured leg in the rain. I've lived in this city for nearly 10 years without ever being involved in any pedestrian accidents prior. For the last four months, I've been in constant pain & have been bandaged up. The Doctors advised that I have a form of poor circulation in my feet & that this will take awhile to fully recover. The police never caught the fucktard who hit me. I'm really looking forward to having a relatively normal sort of life, and finally take that holiday to England that I've been rambling on about a few entries back.

I'm really appreciative to my family & close circuit of friends who have helped me through this difficult time in my life. I certainly hope this never happens to any of you ever. Be well, a demain et a bientot.

One for you, one for me.
Come and lie down on the settee in that green jumper
You can have anything you want and the clock is saying it's half past four
But you know I want to stay a little more.
Can I stay here lying under the table...etc.
On a pink quilted eiderdown, I want to pull your knickers down.
Net curtains blow slightly in the breeze.
Lemonade light filtering thru the trees.
It's so soft and it's warm.
Just another cup of tea please (one lump thanks).
Can I stay here lying under the table...
Oh Kevin, Shane, Julie, Diane, Wayne, Frank, Heather, Rachel,
Chelsea, Leanne,come home.
It's time for your tea.

It's been quite some time since I've updated.....I've succumbed to the myspace propaganda & took up some time there. It's not too bad, sometimes amusing.
I also got a new job this past Tuesday, yey! I also picked up an application for a passport. I'm planning my trip to England this year.....I'm looking forward to leaving this continent for a two week holiday this summer.

I rented two brilliant films yesterday, Basquiat & Velvet Goldmine. I'm absolutely in love with Micko Westmoreland's character, Jack Fairy. Androgynous & such a beautiful creature. ::sigh:: I loved the film, it took me nearly nine years to finally get 'round to watching it. And wow, what a film!

I've got an upcoming dinner date with my best friend for Valentines Day.....we've been getting on rather well & he's been a huge supporter since my disastrous week of unemployment & off & on again relationship precariousness. I'm on a hiatus from the dating world.

I'm craving a latte...more anon, a demain et a bientot!
